Nestled at an altitude of nearly 1,960 metres, high above the village of Bourg-Saint-Pierre, in the unspoilt wilderness of the Combe de l’A nature reserve, opposite the Vélan and the Grand Combin, the Gîte de Champlong is a true haven of peace. It welcomes walkers, depending on their preferences, for a meal, a coffee or an overnight stay. The old stables, carefully renovated to preserve the built heritage, now house a kitchen opening onto a cosy dining room, a relaxation and reading area, a play area for children, and a dormitory.
It can only be reached on foot (or by bike). Although it does not appear on the list of signposted trails or on any of the well-known routes that might guide walkers to it, the gîte is nevertheless accessible to everyone. From Liddes, you’ll need to walk (or cycle) for around 2 hours, passing through La Niord and then heading towards Les Arpalles (follow the ‘GITE’ signs). You can also set off from Bourg-Saint-Pierre via the Toules dam.
We offer drinks and light refreshments (local produce). It is also possible to stay overnight (20 beds), by booking only.
Opening times
Open only in summer from 27 June to 13 September 2026 (closed on Mondays and Tuesdays)
From 1 to 13 September 2026, the gîte is open only at weekends, namely on 5 and 6 September and 12 and 13 September 2026.
